Service Dog Certification
According to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), a service animal is defined as an animal that has been individually trained to provide assistance or perform tasks for the benefit of a person with a physical or mental disability which substantially limits one or more of their major life functions. The Gift of Sunshine offers Owner/Trainer certification for those individuals who have either trained their dogs by themselves or with the assistance of a professional trainer.
Although most states do not require certification for service dogs, some people feel more confident having their dog certified by an organization.
The Gift of Sunshine will test and provide I.D. to teams that meet our requirements for certification which include, but are not limited to, successfully completing a Public Access Test as outlined by Assistance Dogs International. For more information on this test, please visit their website.
